Programs and Curriculum
McGill provides a comprehensive support system to help graduate students in their educational and personal pursuits. They can benefit from language training, obtain expert tutoring or access services to prepare them for exams, help proof-read their papers or enhance their oral presentation, instructing and writing skills. McGill also helps students find housing, both on and off-campus; obtain financial assistance or earn extra income through a work study program. McGill operates a legal information clinic and gives its students easy access to an ombudsperson and dispute resolution services. There is also a group that informs graduate students about their rights and responsibilities, supports them if violations occur and provides information about University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. McGill also provides guidance and counseling services; a multi-faith team of chaplains; a wide range of medical, mental health and dental services; health insurance for Canadian and international students; advice about issues involving sexuality and services for mature students, first nations students, students with disabilities and students with children who must combine parenting with their desire to earn a degree.

Financial Support
- In 2008, 68% of the new PhD students received competitive three-year funding packages;

Admissions
All applications and admissions into graduate engineering programs are handled by the individual departments. Before you apply, you should contact the academic unit offering the program in order to establish a relationship. The Graduate Program Coordinator/Secretary will be your main contact person within the unit and will provide you with pertinent information. They can answer your questions about program requirements, the admissions process, supplemental materials, funding opportunities and potential supervisors. However, they will recommend that you consult the faculty profiles on their department website and consult with individual researchers for specific information about research projects and opportunities in your area.
